Ore Mountains Theatre

Ore Mountains Theatre

The Ore Mountains Theatre is an impressive building that significantly shapes the historical centre of Teplice. Thanks to its location by the main access route into the city, it is one of the first landmarks to welcome visitors.

From 1874 to 1994, the theatre was home to a permanent operetta ensemble, which survived even a devastating fire in 1919. The building was rebuilt in a relatively short time, and its architecture sensitively combines Art Nouveau elements with emerging modernism. The interiors were designed by members of the Dresden Academy, and the newly constructed theatre opened in 1924.

Today, the theatre’s programme consists mainly of guest theatre companies, while a permanent dance ensemble is also based here. The Ore Mountains Theatre is part of the municipal organisation House of Culture Teplice.
