FK Teplice is one of the traditional sporting symbols of the city, and its modern history began shortly after the end of the Second World War. At the beginning of May 1945, four enthusiasts – Rudolf Cajthaml, Václav Anft, Josef Jirásek, and Zdeněk Šteflík – met at the Ditrich Hotel with a clear goal: to bring football back to Teplice.
The city was building on a rich pre-war tradition. Before 1939, the German club Teplitzer F.K. was active here, competing in the top Czechoslovak league and even gaining international recognition through a tour of South America, where it played against the Argentine national team.
The newly founded club began its activities in 1945 under the name SK Teplice-Šanov, and its start was extraordinarily successful. Within just three years, it advanced to the top league, setting a record that remains unique to this day – no other newly established club has reached the elite level so quickly.
These achievements laid the solid foundations of Czech football tradition in Teplice, which FK Teplice continues to build upon today, making the club an important part of the city’s sporting and social life.
