SPORTARÉNA Teplice

SPORTARÉNA Teplice

SPORTARÉNA Teplice is a multifunctional complex comprising a sports hall, hotel, restaurant, hostel, ice rink, fitness center, and wellness facilities. Sports enthusiasts can find everything “under one roof.” The ice rink, however, has sparked the greatest debate—not only in Teplice.

The original ice stadium was built in 1976 with a capacity of 6,000 seated spectators and was considered highly modern at the time. It was used, among others, by Hockey Club Stadion Teplice, founded in 1945. In its early years, the stadium was frequently used by national teams. Concerts and ice shows were also held there, and the team competed in the second division. However, the league license was sold in 2007, and the club subsequently ceased to exist. Four years later, the roof of the deteriorating building collapsed, and several years afterward the stadium was completely demolished.

Construction of a new ice rink began in 2017, connected to the multifunctional sports hall and the entire complex in Stínadla. The new stadium is smaller, measuring 56 × 26 m, with a capacity of 450 seated and 300 standing spectators, but it proudly received the Building of the Year 2019 award. The rink is fully utilized by the ice hockey club HC Huskies Teplice, the Teplice figure skating club, the general public, as well as kindergartens and primary schools.

The complex is operated by SPORTARÉNA Teplice, a municipal organization of the City of Teplice.
