Shortly after the end of World War II, in early May 1945, four prominent Teplice sports figures – Rudolf Cajthaml, Václav Anft, Josef Jirásek, and Zdeněk Šteflík – met at the Ditrich Hotel and decided to revive local football. Before the war, Teplice had a strong football tradition thanks to the German club Teplitzer F.K., which played in the Czechoslovak league and even traveled to South America to face the Argentine national team.
The newly established club, then called SK Teplice-Šanov, quickly demonstrated its strength. Within just three years, it reached the top league – a record no other newly founded Czech club has ever surpassed. Teplice football thus began a new, purely Czech chapter, giving the town a sporting identity that became an important part of its modern history and present.
