Come with us to the Opárno Valley, where you can take a pleasant and undemanding walk along the Milešovský brook. Another place you can visit are the ruins of the Gothic castle of Opárno. If you make an effort and climb up to the castle, the reward will be a nice view of the valley itself and of the peaks in the vicinity. If you don't want to climb, you can refresh yourself in the beautiful Černodolský Mill.
In an hour and a quarter we will go to Třebenice - a town famous in the world for Czech garnets, unique dark red semi-precious stones, which are abundant in the Třebenice region. You can learn about their mining and use in jewelry in the Czech Garnet Museum, which exhibition is located in the former German Lutheran Church. The basis of the town museum of Třebenice was the collection of the local doctor, patriot and nation awakener MUDr. Václav Pařík. The exhibition offers a comprehensive brief overview of the mining and processing of Czech garnet, a collection of contemporary and historical jewelry made of Czech garnet. It is worth seeing a replica of Ulrika von Levetzow's jewelry set, which, according to legend, was donated to her as an expression of love by the German poet J. W. Goethe. The exhibition is complemented by an overview of the history of the town and its surroundings. Visitors can not only see Czech garnets, but also collect them directly in front of the museum or in imported garnet sand. You can also buy selected certified garnet jewelry at the museum box office.
Another place, you should not miss in Třebenice, is the local Chocolaterie - an atypical shop for our region, an original establishment at the foot of the Košťálov Hill. The chocolate shop offers an infinite amount of chocolate delicacies - handmade truffles, cakes, desserts, fondue, crushed cocoa beans, real Belgian, French or exotic chocolate to its customers.
