W A Mozart statue

A statue of Emperor Franz Joseph II used to stand in front of the Teplice town hall after 1913. After the First World War, the statue was removed during dramatic events surrounding the occupation of Teplice by Czechoslovak legionaries. In the years that followed, the town council acquired a statue of the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart from the same creator, Metzner. The work was taken off after the Second World War and allegoric statues of Industry and Agriculture were cut off the stone pedestal of the stairs. The Mozart statue disappeared as it “traveled” around the Castle Garden in the 1960s until it found its place in a large open area between the castle and Letná.
