Pravřídlo Spring and Memorial to the Lost Springs

The building of the Town Spa, erected in 1836, hides the spring shaft of the Pravřídlo (Ancient Spring) spring. As recently as the 19th century, Pravřídlo was accessible to visitors only from inside the building; today the fountain faces the outside of the building. The original gargoyle in the shape of a lion’s head was replaced in the mid-1950s by an earthenware pig’s head in commemoration of a legend about the discovery of the local healing springs allegedly by a swineherd in the year 762.
